CREDENTIALS
Katy Miller began her legal career in 1980 at Holland & Hart, and joined Miller & Steiert in 1985. She has emphasized employment law and workplace disputes for her entire career. Katy is increasingly sought after to serve as an arbitrator, independent investigator, or mediator in employment matters. In addition, she serves as a monitor under class action consent decrees/settlement agreements for the federal government. As a neutral, she has served on the employment panels of the American Arbitration Association, the Office of Dispute Resolution for the State of Colorado, and the EEOC. She is co-founder of Littleton Alternative Dispute Resolution, Ltd. (LADR).

Katy is named in the Best Lawyers in America in the area of Labor and Employment Law and has been inducted into the prestigious College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. She lectures extensively to lawyers and human resource professionals on a variety of employment and ADR issues, and has written numerous articles on legal issues impacting employers and employees in the workplace.

PHILOSOPHY
Believing that employers and employees should treat each other with honesty and fairness, Katy counsels her clients accordingly, regularly providing preventative advice to employers and individuals. Her strong interest in striking a balance between differing perspectives, and her deep understanding of the excessive financial and human costs involved in protracted litigation, have led to her full time commitment to early resolution of employment disputes.

PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS
Katy is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and chaired its Labor Law Forum Committee from 1993-1995, is co-managing editor of The Practitioner Guide to Colorado Employment Law, originally published in 1998, and was elected to the Board of the Faculty of Federal Advocates in 1999. She was inducted into The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers in 2004. Katy is also a member of the Colorado Women's Bar Association, the Arapahoe County Bar Association and the Colorado Council of Mediator Organizations. From 1982 to 1990, and again from 1995-2003, she served on the Board of the Center for Women's Employment & Education, Inc., a non-profit organization assisting low-income women and families enter the job market. She is currently a director on the board of the Colorado Judicial Institute, and serves as an officer and director of the nonprofit KID Foundation, whose mission is to conduct and disseminate research regarding sensory processing disorder in children.
