Austin earned her Juris Doctorate from Seattle University School of Law in 2020. While in law school, Austin served as president of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund and participated in the Washington Moderate Means Practicum, where she assisted clients in obtaining affordable legal representation for family, housing, and consumer law. While in Seattle, Austin also worked at the Seattle Civil Rights Office, assisting clients with civil rights and discrimination lawsuits.

Austin is a Colorado native, and when not practicing law, she enjoys spending time outside in her garden, skiing, swimming, playing with animals, and completing jigsaw puzzles.
